Simplest Method to Develop an Attitude of Gratitude

Author

“It is not happiness that brings us gratitude, it is gratitude that brings us happiness.”

We live in such a fast-paced world where everything seems expendable. We are quick to complain that our gadgets and items are last year’s model.

We don’t appreciate nor value what we already have and take it for granted.

The desire for success in all areas of our lives, financial, relationship, health, etc. that desire for wanting more can blind us from all that we are blessed with.

Never let the things you want make you forget about the things you have.

It is acceptable never to be satisfied, some use that as their driving force to keep pushing forward, but you must always be grateful.

If you can’t manage and appreciate what you already have, how do you expect more?

Gratitude Rock

Find a rock, any rock, but keep in mind that it will hold more value if you get it from a place that is significant to you. For me it has somewhat turned into a collection, where each has a story; however, you only need one.

Carry the rock in your pocket where ever you go, and every time you touch it think of something you are grateful for. Whether you put your hand in your pocket to get something, changing clothes, or any other reason.

You must hold on to the rock and not move until you have thought of something you’re grateful for.

Being grateful can be hard at first when you are new to it all. For the first while, I would stand there for minutes with this rock in my hand before thinking of something. That is not to say I had nothing to be grateful for, rather, we have to rewire our brain to really value our material objects, relationships, health, and everything else we take for granted.

Some days it is very simply being grateful for my gratitude rock.

AlwaysSomethingThanks
