Will you bet on yourself this year?
With most of today’s technology being upgraded at least once a year, sometimes it’s hard to keep up. Yet, we still seek to upgrade our gadgets and toys to the latest models. We want, sometimes even tell ourselves need, this year’s model to feel complete, to be part of the trend.
Imagine if you were that passionate about upgrading your life? Imagine if you read just one book a YEAR, let alone a month or even week. Just to put it in perspective, this is how often some of the world’s top performers read:
- Bill Gates reads about 50 books per year
- Elon Musk is an avid reader. When asked how he learned to build rockets, he said, “I read books.”
- Tai Lopez reads a book a day
- Warren Buffet read between 600 and 1000 pages per day when he was beginning his investing career and still devotes about 80% of each day to reading.
Or how about joining Toastmasters this year (very inexpensive btw), not only for the skills you would learn but also for all the like minded individuals you would meet.
Just as you have a budget, or you might even splurge, for buying new gadgets and toys; Set a budget for things that will actually improve your quality of life, whether it be books, courses, getting a coach, or maybe a gym membership.
If those are all too cliché for you, how about even investing in that hobby you have been putting off, maybe getting a camera and getting into photography, or maybe knitting is your thing, whatever it may be.
And if there is ever anything to splurge on, this would be it, you will feel rewarded, and unlike buying other materialistic things, where their value drops the second after purchasing, these will reward you 10 fold in the future.
The point isn’t to spend more money, but rather to spend it on things that matter.
